Councilmember Suzie Price is spearheading a leadership forum for girls and young women, with the aim of dissolving barriers for future female leadership. The idea, sparked by local resident Mary Scott, will focus on the role women play in the government, education and business sectors, according to city officials.
“It is imperative, now more than ever, that we teach young women about leadership,” stated Councilwoman Suzie Price. “I want to show young women that gender should never be a roadblock to success.”
With the help of Vice President of Operations at Hotel Maya Kristi Allen, Principal of Wilson High School Dr. Sandy Blazer and City Auditor Laura Doud, Price’s leadership forum is set to take place on Saturday, December 3 at 10:00AM at Woodrow Wilson Classical High School.
Setting a positive example for young people to aspire to is her utmost responsibility, said Allen. The Vice President of Hotel Operations at Hotel Maya noted the importance of helping young girls and women understand that there is a path to success in all realms.
“I’m excited to join these dynamic women leaders of our community at this Leadership Forum,” said Doud in a statement. “I’m looking forward to sharing our stories and experiences to help inspire these young women to reach for their potential as they prepare to be our future leaders.”

The event will be held in Room 162 at Wilson High School, located at 4400 East 10th Street.
