At least one person has been taken to a hospital as Long Beach police continued to investigate an overnight shooting, according to reports from the scene.

At 1:01 a.m. this morning, firefighters learned of a possible gunshot victim along Long Beach Boulevard near where it crosses the 710 Freeway, according to Brian Fisk of the Long Beach Fire Department. Police said the victim reported that he was shot in the lower body on Myrtle Avenue near 55th Street.

A videographer outside a hotel at that location reported seeing a man on a stretcher being taken away, face down, by paramedics.

Investigators were examining a vehicle parked haphazardly nearby with what appeared to be a bullet hole in the driver’s door, the witness said.

The condition of the victim was unclear.
