ORIGINAL AUGUST 13, 6:46PM:  The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors today approved a $10,000 reward for information leading to the suspect who fatally stabbed 76 year-old Leam Sovanasy in 2009.

A Cambodian immigrant and mother of 10, Sovanasy was found stabbed to death in her home on the 1400 block of Peterson Avenue over four years ago and investigators recently reinvigorated the case after receiving information about a possible vehicle for the suspect.

After canvassing Sovanasy’s neighborhood with the new information in late July, police received a description of a possible suspect and released a sketch of the person (left) based on physical descriptions from witnesses.

Police hope the reward will further inventivize witnesses to come forward so they can solve Sovanasy’s murder.

Anyone with more information was asked to call Long Beach police Detectives Teryl Hubert or Mark Bigel at (562) 570-7244.
