Police say they have arrested two more suspects in connection with the shooting death of a 46-year-old Irvine man whose body was found inside a vehicle in North Long Beach last year.

Paramount resident Eleazar Lopez, 34, was arrested Tuesday in Downey on suspicion of conspiring to commit the murder of Abelardo Ramirez Bonilla, according to authorities. Long Beach resident Leonel Zapien Martinez, 32, was taken into custody back in March for an unrelated warrant and has since been connected to the murder, according to the LBPD.

Lopez’s bail was set at $2 million. Martinez has been charged with murder and remains in jail in lieu of $2 million bail.

Detectives are expected to present the case against Lopez to the District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, the LBPD said.

A third suspect in the case, 54-year-old Luis Barrios, was arrested back in December and remains in jail without bail, inmate records show.

Police arrested Barrios on Tuesday during a traffic stop at 72nd Street and Orange Avenue. He was booked at the Long Beach City Jail on suspicion of murder and possessing a controlled substance for sale.

While a motive remains under investigation, police said detectives believe the slaying stems from an ongoing personal dispute between Ramirez Bonilla and the three defendants.
