Authorities say they found Isidro Martinez Garcia on the night of July 19 suffering from a gunshot wound to the pelvis.
A 16-year-old was arrested Saturday night more than three hours after fatally shooting a man at the Springdale West Apartments in West Long Beach, according to police.
“He was a good person,” said the man’s daughter. He was shot and killed following a neighbor dispute, police said.
Santiago Rivera, 19, has now been connected to two separate deadly shootings, Long Beach police said.
Police say Veliz was collecting recyclables in an alleyway near Ramona Park when she was attacked from behind by a neighbor.
Officers aided the man until Long Beach fire personnel responded to the scene to transport him to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.
A man was arrested shortly after on suspicion of murder less than a quarter of a mile from where the officers located the woman’s body.
When 72-year-old Barbara Scott tried to intervene in an argument, the young man punched her in the face, which caused injuries that eventually led to her death, according to a coroner’s report.
“It’s just not right,” said the woman’s aunt, who added they were supposed to celebrate a family member’s birthday today.
