A 30-foot boat with seven people on board crashed into the rock breakwall at the east entrance of the Long Beach Marina last night, injuring two women.
The crash occurred just after 9 p.m. Friday, Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Jack Crabtree told City News Service.
LBFD Marine Safety employees heard the distress call and sent a rescue boat to the scene, Crabtree said.
They found the vessel had sustained moderate damage but was not taking on water or sinking and was on its own power as the rescue boat escorted it to a public dock in the 400 block of Shoreline Drive, he said.
The two women suffered moderate injuries and were taken by paramedics to a hospital for treatment, Crabtree said.
Video from the scene showed the women being loaded into ambulances on gurneys. One woman had a cover over her face while the other had her left arm immobilized.
