One person was killed today when they were ejected from a black sedan that hit the right shoulder wall of the 710 Freeway in Long Beach.

The crash was first reported to the California Highway Patrol at 12:07 a.m. Monday and occurred on the southbound Long Beach Freeway at Long Beach Boulevard.

A witness told the CHP that the black sedan was being driven recklessly before the crash. The CHP was told someone was lying in lanes outside the overturned, crumpled car and not moving.

The ejected motorist was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.

Long Beach Animal Care Services was summoned to pick up a dog that had been in the car.
