26-year-old Guillermo Iturralde of West Covina is dead after being shot early Sunday morning, police said today.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers responded to the scene in the area of 11th St. and Walnut Ave. at about 1:25AM after receiving a shots fired call. Upon arrival, police found Iturralde, who had been struck in the upper body. Shortly after, Long Beach Fire Department paramedics  pronounced him dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that Iturralde was walking down the street when someone in a nearby vehicle fired at him before fleeing the scene.

Police said Iturralde was not a gang member, and a motive for the shooting is unknown. Meanwhile, no suspect information is available and the investigation is ongoing. We will update the story as we learn more.
