26-year-old Olatag Filemoni of Long Beach passed away Monday night, succumbing to his injuries sustained when he was shot in the torso during a drive-by shooting near Silverado Park in West Long Beach last Friday.

According to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), a group of people were sitting in front of a residence near the 3200 block of Baltic Avenue on July 25 when a vehicle drove by with one of its occupants firing at the group. Filemoni was the sole victim and was discovered critically wounded by officers when they arrived at 11PM.

Filemoni, who had no known gang affiliation, was immediately transferred to a hospital and police were informed yesterday of his passing.

LBPD stated that the situation is currently under investigation while detectives attempt to find a motive; no current suspect information is known at this time.
