A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed during a fight in Belmont Shore Thursday night, according to authorities.

Police said the fight happened around 11:30 p.m. outside the Chase Bank, 5200 E. Second St., along a popular stretch of bars and restaurants.

Officers headed to the scene after getting a call that someone there may have been armed with a gun during the fight, Long Beach police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

While they were headed to the scene, officers were given the description of a car possibly carrying someone involved in the fight, according to Dandoy.

When officers pulled over the car near Redondo Avenue and Broadway, they found the victim inside, she said. Paramedics took him to the hospital to treat wounds that weren’t life-threatening, Dandoy said.

Police are still looking for the assailant. No description was available.

Authorities are still investigating, Dandoy said. Officers didn’t find any weapons in the car they pulled over, she said.

Editor’s note: Police originally said the fight happened at 5200 E. Second St. but later clarified it happened outside the Chase bank there.
