Long Beach police have arrested three people in connection with an early morning fight on Feb. 24 that led to a shooting in the Hellman neighborhood, authorities said Friday.

Police say shots were fired after a group of people who had been arguing in the street shortly before 3:20 a.m. started leaving, police spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

Detective Jennifer Arzola previously told the Post that a witness said she had observed a dispute between several people in vehicles.

The shooting was the last of five separate incidents that happened in one night.

The suspects and victims fled before police arrived, but one vehicle was hit during the shooting, according to police. A woman later went to a local hospital for treatment for a non-life threatening injury, De Prez said.

Officers were later able to find the victims of the shooting and detectives on March 15 arrested 20-year-old Yazer Alfaro-Reyna, of Long Beach, on suspicion of attempted murder and knowingly receiving stolen property, police said.

“A search warrant was served at Alfaro-Reyna’s residence and evidence connected to the shooting was recovered,” De Prez said. “Two occupants inside the residence were arrested.”

Those two people were later released pending further investigation, she said.

Police said detectives later arrested two other Long Beach residents in connection with the fight: Eduardo Velasquez, 20, and Jaslynn Bailey, 20, were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
