Three pedestrians were critically injured Saturday night when they were struck by a vehicle near the Port of Long Beach.

The crash occurred just after 6 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Pico Avenue, near the 710 Freeway, according to Long Beach police Lt. John Hotchkiss.

The vehicle struck a woman, a man and a 16-year-old boy, who were taken by paramedics to a hospital and listed in critical but stable condition, Hotchkiss said.

The man driving the vehicle remained at the scene and was detained, and was also treated at a hospital, Hotchkiss said. His identity and condition were not provided.

An investigation was ongoing.
