In an email sent by Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt, LBPD responded to a residence Monday at approximately 6:30PM in the 4900 block of Oregon Ave. regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers learned that a female suspect had stabbed a male subject before returning to her residence.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury. Patrol officers and the Mental Evaluation Team attempted to convince the female suspect to come out of the residence, but she refused and SWAT was activated.

At approximately 10:30PM, the female suspect voluntarily walked out of the house and surrendered and was taken into custody by SWAT officers. She has been identified as 54-year-old Alma Jean Parson of Long Beach. She was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at Long Beach City Jail on $30,000 bail.

According to Pratt, the exact relation between the suspect and victim is unknown, however they do know one another.
