Police are investigating the death of a 60-year-old woman found dead in her North Long Beach home Sunday and treating it as a homicide after uncovering suspicious evidence, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) confirmed Monday.

According to LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona, police were dispatched at 7:00AM Sunday morning to a residence on the 6700 block of Olive Avenue regarding what was believed to be a natural death. 

There, they found Vaiola Vaipulu of Long Beach dead.

The Coroner’s investigator then responded to the scene and detected suspicious circumstances, the Arrona said. Police homicide detectives were subsequently summoned to begin an investigation.  

Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter said an autopsy was pending.
