Police are trying to identify a suspect who they said stole tools and construction equipment worth $67,770 from the Signal Hill Library construction site at 1770 East Hill Street on the afternoon of July 22.

The suspect, wearing a green safety-style vest or green shirt, cut the lock to a construction gate near Hill Street before cutting the locks to a storage container and loading a truck with a large amount of tools, authorities said.

Police said the suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction in a white mid-2000’s model Ford F-350 with an extended cab. The truck may have damage on the driver’s side wheel well.

Anyone with additional information that could help police identify the suspect can call the Signal Hill Police Department at 562-989-7201 or Detective Taylor at 562-989-7215 or at [email protected]
