No one was hurt when a gun went off inside an Alamitos Beach home Monday night, police said.

After someone called police about the gunshot, officers got to the home near First Street and Cerritos Avenue at about 9:45 p.m., authorities said. They learned that a resident was organizing a drawer when he accidentally discharged a gun, causing a bullet to go into the apartment or condo below him, spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

“The investigation revealed the discharge was accidental in nature and no arrests were made,” she said.

The firearm was legally registered, De Prez said.
