Police said a male victim was shot in the lower body during an argument with a man just north of Long Beach Poly High School on Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly before 1:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting on Pacific Coast Highway near Lime Avenue, according to Long Beach police.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body, a police spokesperson said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said the victim was in a verbal altercation with the suspect before the shooting.

The suspect fled before officers arrived, and a suspect description was not immediately available. Police did not release the victim’s age.
