Police have made an arrest in connection with another one of the gang-related murders that shocked North Long Beach this February.
Long Beach police arrested 24-year-old Joseph Avila last week for the February 10 murder of Robert Anthony Proano, who was shot and killed in the middle of the day at Artesia Blvd. and Myrtle Ave., just behind Jordan High School. Similar to the two other murders that occurred in North Long Beach–one on February 22 and another February 23–the motive in Proano’s killing is believed to be gang-related.
Gang enhanced murder and weapons charges have been filed against Avila and he is currently being held at the Long Beach Jail on $1,040,000 bail.
Also last week, police announced the arrest of two brothers who have been charged with the February 22 murder of 24-year-old Chris Lane. No arrests have been announced yet in the February 23 death of 20-year-old Christopher Franklin.
