Police said Jones was inside his home in the 2200 block of Chestnut Avenue on Feb. 14 when someone shot him. Authorities have not yet released any details on a motive or what led up to the slaying.

Officers were notified of the shooting just after 2:30 a.m. and found Jones inside the home with a gunshot wound to the upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department. He was then transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

No arrests have been announced. The gunman, according to police, fled the area before officers arrived.
