Authorities today identified a pedestrian who was killed when she was struck by a number of vehicles in Long Beach, only one of which remained at the scene.

Latonia Williams, 44, of Long Beach died at the scene at about 9:20 p.m. Monday on Pacific Avenue north of 25th Street, according to the coroner’s office and the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers sent to the area following the crash stopped a Ford Explorer with two adults inside a short distance from the scene, but determined that they were not involved in the hit-and-run, police said.

“The pedestrian was in the roadway … outside of a crosswalk when she was struck by an unknown vehicle, which fled the scene,” according to a police statement. “As the pedestrian was laying in the roadway, she was hit by additional vehicles.”

Only one of those motorists gave police a statement. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at 562-570-7355.
