A 42-year-old man riding a bicycle who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Long Beach was identified today.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Keith Moore.

Officers were sent to the area of Seventh Street and Bellflower Boulevard about 5:05 a.m. Friday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

“Officers discovered an unconscious adult male bicyclist lying on the south sidewalk of Seventh Street,” according to an LBPD statement.

The man died at the scene, police said.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the bicyclist was traveling eastbound in the number three lane of Seventh Street, when he was struck from behind by a vehicle which was also traveling eastbound in the number three lane,” according to the LBPD.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said.

“At this time, neither speed, distracted driving, nor impaired driving are suspected as being factors in the collision,” the LBPD said.
