A man was driven to a Long Beach hospital by a friend after being shot in the lower body Monday night, according to authorities.

Police talked to the man at the hospital around 10:10 p.m., and he told them he’d been shot near Third Street and Termino Avenue, LBPD spokesman Ivan Garcia said.

Few details beyond that were available. Garcia said officers went to the intersection and searched for a crime scene but couldn’t find anything.

“The reason for the shooting is still under investigation,” Garcia said. “There is no suspect information at this time.”

The victim’s wounds weren’t life-threatening, police said.
