Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors renewed separate $10,000 rewards for information regarding two fatal Long Beach shootings, one of which took place in 2013, the other last fall.
One reward was related to the September 24 fatal shooting of Jeremy Cornell McFarland, who was found lying, dead, on a grass parkway on the 700 block of East 56th Street. His body, shot in the chest and left for dead, was around the corner from where he once lived.
Supervisor Don Knabe recommended the $10,000 reward to help draw reluctant witnesses who could provide additional details related to the incident. According to Knabe, McFarland had family in the area.
Other witnesses said they heard shots, but no witnesses have emerged to provide a description. Six .32-caliber shell casings and one bullet were found at the scene.

Knabe requested a separate $10,000 reward for information related to the March 28, 2013 death of 19-year-old Sidney Wallace Jr., who was shot in an apartment complex parking lot on the 200 block of East Hill Street.
A 49-year-old man and Wallace’s cousin, 37, were also shot, but survived.
At least two shooters who fired on Wallace are being sought by police.
Authorities said Wallace was not a gang member.
So far, no one has come forward with a description of the gunmen, though several witnesses reported hearing shots.
