A man was fatally shot in North Long Beach early Thursday morning, authorities said.

Long Beach police responded to the 700 block of East 56th Street at 4:07AM on Thursday, September 24, where they discovered a man on the sidewalk who has been struck in the torso by gunfire, Long Beach Police Department spokesperson Megan Zabel said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

Officials said the motive is unclear and the incident is still under investigation.

No suspects are in custody at this time, according to authorities.
