The bomb squad evacuated a parking area at the Long Beach Airport while they dealt with an unattended bag that was left near the airport’s car rental area Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

Long Beach police said the bag was found around 7:50 a.m.

As a precaution, authorities said they evacuated a nearby parking lot and a parking structure while a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad made sure the package was safe.

Authorities were reopening the area by 10 a.m., LBPD spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said. Police are still investigating how exactly the bag got there.
