Long Beach police say they’re looking for a man who smashed the window of a car where a man and a woman were sitting before shooting a gun into the air early this morning.

The altercation was originally reported to police around 2:50 a.m. as a domestic violence situation on Gardenia Avenue near 11th Street, which is in the area of Cambodia Town, according to LBPD spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy.

Officers learned that the victims had been sitting in a parked car when the suspect approached and used his gun to smash one of the car’s windows, Dandoy said.

“The victims and suspect were then involved in a verbal altercation, which concluded with the suspect firing his weapon into the air and fleeing the scene,” Dandoy said.

It doesn’t appear the gunfire hit anyone, but the man in the car was treated for minor injuries caused by the broken glass, according to the LBPD.

Police said they aren’t sure of an exact motive for the shooting, and detectives are still investigating.
