Officers surrounded a home in North Long Beach this morning after a man used his home security system to spot a pair of burglars, according to police.

Police said the man called police around 5:45 a.m. to say he’d used his cell phone to look at his home’s security camera footage and saw two men inside.

Officers rushed to the home in the 1500 block of Phillips Street where they called in a helicopter and K-9 units, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

“One suspect was immediately apprehended by officers and taken into custody without incident,” she said.

Police searched the empty home and surrounding area but weren’t able to find any other suspects, according to De Prez.

Officers were also able to get back the items the burglars had stolen from the home, De Prez said.

Police are still investigating, she said.
