Long Beach police are investigating a shooting sparked by an argument that wounded a bystander early Sunday morning in the Washington neighborhood, authorities said.
Police said that the incident began when a group of people standing on a sidewalk stopped a man driving a dark SUV at the 1300 block of Magnolia Avenue at around 2 a.m. The group of people and the driver of the SUV began to argue, which then escalated. The driver shot a man in the lower body, who was standing near the area of the argument, police said.
The suspect then fled in the SUV, police said.
The victim was transported to a hospital with a non-life-threatening wound, police said.
