A woman is expected to survive after being stabbed while trying to break up an argument between two men she didn’t know early Friday morning.

Long Beach police got a call at 7:40 a.m. about an assault with a deadly weapon on the 200 block of West 14th Street in the Washington neighborhood, Officer Alvino Herrera said.

Police believe two men were arguing and when the woman tried to intervene, one of the men stabbed her. He fled before police got there, Herrera said.

“The victim did not know the person the suspect was originally arguing with and was trying to stop the argument from continuing,” Herrera said.

The woman was transported to a local hospital for a non-life threatening stab wound to her upper torso.

Police are still investigating.
