A police pursuit of two car-theft suspects led officers from Pomona to Long Beach at speeds of 80 to 100 miles per hour late Sunday night, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said today.

The pursuit began on the San Bernardinp (10) Freeway at Garey Avenue in Pomona at about 11:10PM, said CHP Officer Richard McAllister.

The suspects, driving a white 1990 Acura Integra, led officers westbound on the San Bernardino Freeway through downtown Los Angeles, turned onto the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway in Carson, then headed south on the San Diego (405) Freeway to Long Beach, where they turned south onto the Long Beach (710) Freeway, McAllister said.

The suspects exited the freeway at Willow Street and headed west until they turned onto northbound Santa Fe Avenue.

CHP officers used spike strips to flatten at least one tire of the Acura, which began to smoke. The suspects then bailed out of the car at Carson Street, and were arrested just before midnight, McAllister said.
