A multi-freeway pursuit of a high-speeding motorcyclist ended in Long Beach on Sunday when the suspect dismounted his bike, laid on the freeway and was taken to custody without incident, authorities said.

The chase began at 2:38AM on Sunday, October 25, when Riverside police officers trailed the motorcyclist, who was going more than 80 miles per hour on the westbound Riverside (91) Freeway.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) units then took over the pursuit, with the suspect then going above 90 miles per hour, to the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and then the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway. The chase continued to the southbound Corona (71) Freeway and then to the westbound Artesia (91) Freeway.

The pursuit continued westbound on the 91, where the motorcyclist came to a stop in traffic lanes, over the Long Beach (710) Freeway.

CHP officers arrested Compton resident Victor Manuel Rendon, 32, and confiscated a small baggie of methamphetamine and some drug paraphernalia, according to a CHP news statement.

Rendon was booked on suspicion of felony evading, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was already on probation for stolen property, as well as three felony and two misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.
