The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors offered two $10,000 rewards on Tuesday, including one for information linked to the fatal June shooting of a young woman in Long Beach.
County Supervisor Don Knabe recommended the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot and killed Signal Hill resident Alicia Faith Todd, 21, on June 24, 2015.
Long Beach officers found Todd in an alley behind 1175 East 21st Street in Long Beach’s Poly High neighborhood just after 1:00AM.
Detectives said Todd, who was last seen at her home preparing to go to bed, was shot several times and died at the scene.
“Investigators have canvassed the neighborhood looking for witnesses…and feel they are at a point where it would be beneficial to offer a reward,” Knabe said, adding that he hoped the offer would spur reluctant witnesses to come forward.
Supervisors also extended a $10,000 reward for information to help solve the murder of a man in a Long Beach Denny’s parking lot.
Officers were dispatched to the restaurant, located on the corner of Sixth Street and Long Beach Boulevard, just before 3:00AM on March 23, 2014, where they discovered four men with gunshot wounds, including Compton resident Charles Bell, 33, who was struck in the torso by gunfire.
Bell was lying in the parking lot and determined dead at the scene, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officials.
Investigators believe the suspect—described as a black man in his mid-20s—tried to instigate a fight with the individuals who were leaving the restaurant, and it escalated to a shooting.
The suspect fled with multiple people in a dark-colored SUV, authorities stated, and he remains outstanding. Previously released footage shows the suspect’s vehicle fleeing westbound on Sixth Street—the wrong way on a one-way street.
The reward, that had been set to expire January 17, will now be available for at least another 90 days.
