Man arrested on suspicion of shooting 19-year-woman he was dating, police say

Long Beach police say they’ve arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder for shooting a 19-year-old woman at a Rose Park apartment building Wednesday night.

Police say Luis Alberto Oros, a 22-year-old resident of Long Beach, was in a dating relationship with the woman. Jail records show Oros lived at the apartment building where police were investigating the shooting.

Officers rushed to the scene of the shooting on Dawson Avenue near 10th Street around 11:33 p.m. Wednesday, according to authorities.

Police said the victim was wounded in the upper body and transported to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Despite the fact that the victim is still alive, homicide detectives began investigating the crime because of “suspicious circumstances,” according to LBPD spokesperson Allison Gallagher. Police have not answered questions about what those circumstances are.

Oros was booked into Long Beach Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and was being held on $1 million bail, Gallagher said.
