A man told police he didn’t remember anything about being stabbed Christmas night because he was intoxicated during the attack, according to authorities.

Police first learned about what happened around 12:35 a.m. Wednesday when they were called to a local hospital to investigate an assault with a deadly weapon, Long Beach police spokesman Alvino Herrera said.

The victim had been stabbed in the upper-torso, but the wounds weren’t live threatening, according to police.

“The victim informed the officers that he was intoxicated during the incident and did not remember anything about the assault,” Herrera said.

He told officers it might have happened near 56th Street and Lime Avenue, but when officers drove there, they couldn’t find any indication of a crime, according to police.

Officers are still investigating but don’t have any other details, Herrera said.
