A suspect in an allegedly stolen vehicle was taken into custody today after leading authorities on a chase to the Cerritos area, where he was injured in a multi-vehicle crash.

Paramedics were sent to Norwalk and Del Amo boulevards shortly after 10 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The suspect collapsed near the crash scene while apparently trying to flee on foot, and he was treated for a possible leg injury. It was unclear if anyone else was injured.

The chase began about a half-hour earlier in the Lakewood area and involved Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies, according to reports from the scene.
