Police arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after a deadly crash in Seal Beach where he was allegedly driving drunk Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.

Seal Beach police said the crash happened around 3:40 p.m. at Seal Beach Boulevard and St. Andrews Drive, near Leisure World.

“Responding officers discovered two vehicles had collided in the intersection,” police said in a statement. “The Orange County Fire Authority responded and transported both drivers and one passenger to local hospitals.”

The woman who’d been driving one of the cars later died at the hospital, police said. Authorities haven’t publicly identified her. The passenger’s injuries weren’t life-threatening.

After the other driver was treated for minor injuries, officers arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter, police said.

Police identified him as German Juarez, of Los Angeles. The amount of his bail wasn’t immediately available.

Seal Beach police asked anyone with information about the crash to contact Officer Erin Enos at 562-799-4100 ext. 1605 or [email protected].
