A man was shot to death in Downey early yesterday after a fight at a nearby gas station, according to police.

Authorities learned about the shooting around 2:52 a.m. Sunday when they were called to Foster Road and Carfax Avenue, which is just west of the San Gabriel River, Downey Sgt. Kevin McCaster said.

When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound, McCaster said.

Police identified him as Miguel Hernandez Bravo, a Bell resident. He died at the scene, according to authorities.

Investigators think Bravo was involved in a fight with some people earlier that evening at a gas station about two blocks away at the corner of Woodruff Avenue and Foster Road.

“It is believed that those individuals may be involved in this crime and the victim was specifically targeted,” McCaster said.

Police declined to release any more details and have not announced any arrests.
