Long Beach firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming out of a second story apartment window around 3:20 p.m. on Friday, near the intersection of East Market Street and Atlantic Avenue.
The fire was in a multi-unit apartment building on the 300 block of East Louise Street in North Long Beach. The resident of the apartment on fire was not home at the time, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Jake Heflin said.
One patient was treated for smoke inhalation and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
