Police and paramedics were called to the scene at Temple Avenue and Second Street for a fight shortly before 8:30 Friday night.

A man in his 20’s was assaulted and transported to the hospital by paramedics, Capt. Matt Dobberpuhl of the Long Beach Fire Department said.

The victim had been struck on the head by a “blunt object” and any suspects were gone before officers arrived, police spokeswoman Arantxa Chavarria said.

Police are still investigating.
