A Los Angeles Police Department sergeant was arrested in Long Beach Tuesday on suspicion of drunk driving and hit-and-run, authorities said.

A vehicle crashed into two parked cars in the 1500 block of Ocean Boulevard, near Falcon Avenue, about 7:20 p.m., then drove away, according to Lt. G. Prieto of the Long Beach Police Department.

Approximately 10 minutes later, the driver was located by police about a mile away in the 200 block of Alamitos Avenue, near Second Street, and taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run, Prieto said.

The sergeant was identified as Oscar Ontiveros, 46, who works for the LAPD’s Southeast Division and was off-duty and in his own vehicle at the time of the crash, Fox 11 reported. He lives in San Pedro, according to jail records.

Ontiveros was released into the custody of the LAPD, Prieto said.

There was no comment on the arrest from the LAPD. No one was injured in the crash.
