Man wounded in shooting along stretch of PCH near LBCC campus, police say

A man was wounded in a shooting near Long Beach City College’s Pacific Coast Campus overnight, but few details about the incident were immediately available.

Police said they were called to the shooting around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of East Pacific Coast Highway, which is near Gaviota Avenue.

Officers found a man who’d been shot in the upper body and medics took him to the hospital to treat wounds that weren’t life-threatening, LBPD spokeswoman Tonya Dean said.

Authorities couldn’t immediately provide any more information on the circumstances of the shooting. Dean said there were no details on a suspect or a motive.

Police were still investigating.
