Two people were arrested for driving under the influence and 20 citations were issued for traffic violations during last weekend’s saturation patrol.

The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) Traffic Section held the patrol from 7:00PM to 3:00AM on Saturday, September 3. According to a release, 44 vehicle enforcement stops were conducted, which led to one DUI-alcohol arrest and one DUI-drug arrest and the 20 additional citations.

Drivers caught driving impaired can expect their DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000, according to the release.

The LBPD will next conduct a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Saturday, September 10.

The DUI Saturation Patrol was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, reminding everyone to ‘Report Drunk Driver – Call 9-1-1’.
