A Long Beach man who is accused of killing his stepfather is scheduled to appear in front of a jury today.

The Long Beach Police Department said that on the evening of March 24, 2013, Joel Torres got in a dispute with his step-father Rogelio Aguirre-Lopez, 37, of Compton.

Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene near 69th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, and Torres, then 19 and now 21, was arrested at a nearby apartment complex and booked for murder.

Torres is scheduled to appear in front of a jury in Long Beach Superior Court at 8:30AM. He is currently being held in the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic, California on $2M bail, according to jail records.

Update: This trial has been continued until tomorrow.
