A Long Beach man was arrested Saturday night after hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene, leaving the victim in critical condition, police said.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers arrived on the scene in the area of Ocean Boulevard and Linden Avenue around 11:20PM, responding to a call regarding an injury hit and run collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian, said LBPD spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.

Police learned a man, identified as a 54-year-old Colorado resident, was attempting to cross northbound on Linden Avenue at Ocean Boulevard when he was struck by a black 2009 Scion that was traveling westbound on Ocean Boulevard.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition, Pratt said.

Police eventually located the suspect vehicle on the northbound 710 Freeway near Willow Avenue after the driver was involved in a single-car collision.

The driver, 32-year-old Brian Lee of Long Beach, was taken into custody and was booked for a hit and run, as well as a DUI. He is being held on $100K bail.
