Yesterday, 24-year-old Desmond Lamar Pulliam of Long Beach was sentenced to 12 years in state prison for robbing a medical marijuana deliveryman while armed with a gun in Long Beach, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office announced this morning.

Pulliam pleaded no contest to a felony count of second-degree robbery on June 5, and also admitted to a special allegation that he personally used a gun during the crime, a release issued by the District Attorney’s office stated.

According to Deputy District Attorney Rachel Bodley, who prosecuted the case, a Long Beach medical marijuana dispensary received a call requesting a home delivery on March 12, 2014.

When the man arrived, Pulliam approached him, armed with a gun and another man, according to the prosecutor. A fight ensued between the three, and Pulliam “fled the scene” with the marijuana.

The case was investigated by the Long Beach Police Department, and on March 31, 2014, Pulliam was arrested in connection with the crime. The other suspect involved was not identified in the investigation, the District Attorney’s Office stated in the release.
