The coroner’s office identified yesterday the victim of an apparent gang-related shooting that occurred in South Los Angeles last week as a Long Beach resident.

Dontae Harrison, 31, died at a hospital Friday, July 22, after he was shot at about 1:30AM on the 11100 block of South Vermont Avenue, according to Lt. Mike Rosson of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) and the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Harrison was walking on a sidewalk when he was struck by gunfire, LASD officials reported. Detectives are investigating the incident as gang-related.
