A Long Beach man was arrested Saturday in connection to a crash that evening involving a vehicle holding propane tanks and a cluttered garage on the 4600 block of East 14th, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officials said..

Officers were dispatched to the residence at 5:35PM where they found a 2006 Toyota 4Runner holding propane had collided into the garage.

Due to the potentially flammable liquids, the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) and Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) bomb squads responded. They later determined the objects were safe, authorities said.

Officers executed a search warrant that same day, recovering evidence from the home of 60-year-old suspect Peter Nicholas Gazerro.

As a precaution, nearby residents were evacuated while the investigation was ongoing and were able to return to their homes at about 9:30PM, authorities said.

Gazerro was booked for possession of an explosive, assembling a device, and vandalism.

He is currently being held at Long Beach City Jail on a $500,000 bail.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
