A Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officer who was shot Sunday night in North Long Beach is in stable condition at Long Beach Memorial with non-life threatening injuries, according to the LBPD.
LBPD officials said police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Artesia Boulevard, near Route 91, for an unknown complaint, entered a complex and were immediately shot at by the suspect.
An officer-involved shooting then occurred. The gunman was also shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A CBS media report indicated the officer was a two year veteran of the police force.
The investigation is ongoing.
This is the fifth officer-involved shooting of 2015, and the first officer-involved shooting in which the officer involved was shot.
