Last weekend’s DUI patrol netted four arrests out of 49 vehicle enforcement stops, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced today.

Conducted between the hours of 7:00PM and 3:00AM on Saturday, December 12, 2015, the patrol yielded 13 field sobriety tests and 11 citations. Of the four DUI-alcohol suspects arrested, one driver was arrested for an outstanding DUI warrant.

In a release issued Monday the LBPD recommended people remember that drunk driving is preventable, with proper planning, and encouraged the use the California Office of Traffic Safety Designated Driver VIP (DDVIP) mobile app, which is now available for mobile download. Through the app, which launched last year, users will be able to locate establishments that offer incentives for participating in the app, which helps users order a sober ride from Uber, Lyft or Curb, all on one screen.

“Designate a sober driver or call a cab,” the release stated.
