Police say two men were wounded in a shooting this morning in the Washington neighborhood.
The shooting was reported shortly before 7:15 a.m. near the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Anaheim Street, Long Beach police spokesperson Andrea Moran wrote in an email.
Officers responded to the scene and found two men, each with a gunshot wound to the upper body, Moran wrote. They were both taken to a hospital. An update on their condition was not immediately available, but homicide detectives were called because of the”severity of one victim’s injuries,” Moran said.
The shooting appeared to have happened at the northeast corner of the intersection, outside of a strip mall with a liquor store, a laundromat and a market. One of the liquor store windows was shattered.

Detectives were investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
